The issue mentioned here is related to trying to run the command as a non-root user and getting denied because of the permissions on the asterisk.ctl file. after installing your asterisk as above, if you reinstall freepbx (freepbx 2.5.1 version in my case - and asterisk of course must be running to install freepbx) and run the command That is, you are using "asterisk -r" as opposed to "asterisk -c"."does /var/run/asterisk/asterisk.ctl exist?"This is letting you know specifically what file is potentially missing or unable to be accessed.Now let's find After that you can quit the CLI by entering the exit command.
