Thank you for your help! ----- Original Message ----- From: Obantec Support To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2003 4:02 PM Subject: Re: please help for this problem! Webalizer runs as a cron.daily task at 4:02AM (the least busy time for any server). Just add these lines to your webalizer.conf This will affect ALL virtual domains, since there's only 1 conf file for the whole server: Code: Omit these line-------------------------- #Enable DNS lookups here I now get DNS resolution for all my domains without the performance hit of having httpd do this.

Yes have /var/lib/webalizer but no dns_cache.db in dir /var/lib/webalizer Add what code to my apache? Full text and rfc822 format available. Top Unable to open DNS cache file by Eng Mi » Sat, 27 Jul 2002 01:20:12 > no such file there. netman, Mar 28, 2002 #5 kark Guest Hmm, great information.

If this 5 minute period was not enough to get all the lookups done, you could delay the running of statistics (it runs as a root crontab job) a few more Also created dns_cache.db file. davidh44, Jun 15, 2002 #14 jimroe Guru Messages: 2,067 For servers running Plesk and hosting multiple domains, it's NOT better to have httpd do the DNS lookups because it does indeed The net of this is that webalizer will have to do somewhat fewer lookups than http (because of the cache) and those that it does have to do will be done

If you want this feature I think you must enable reverse DNS lookups in the apache config file. I understand that I can withdraw my consent at any time. All the stats program web sites I've been to have always said to leave it to the web server, for some reason. What's trying to access it?

netman, Mar 28, 2002 #7 Traged1 Guru Messages: 1,085 Yes, it does drop perfomance slightly, Traged1, Mar 28, 2002 #8 kark Guest So I turned off HostnameLookup and uncommented DNSCache click site Copy sent to Remco van de Meent . I have done the changes in /etc/webalizer.conf and /srv/www/vhosts/corwinwebs.com/conf/webalizer.conf file. the other lines are due probably to nimda code red's etc log entries which you can either ignore or add some code to apache not to log them.

This is due to webalizer could not resolve the ip, look at the articule below which will solve your problem, as i also have this problem before. The problem is that webalizer is run for each domain hosted under Plesk by the Plesk binary "statistics" and since it's a binary you can't change the command line options when This library used to be part of the glibc package. しかし一方で、dns_cache が肥大化した [google] http://popupjammer.com/error-unable/error-unable-to-open-dns-cache-file.html Please don't fill out this field.

If you had total control over the webalizer command line when it ran against the different domains, you could have it do lookups on some but not others (this feature is jimroe, Jun 15, 2002 #15 davidh44 Guest Thanks for the correction.

jimroe, Jun 15, 2002 #15 davidh44 Guest Thanks for the correction. Just make sure the DNSCache file is accessibel (R+W) by the Webalizer processs and you'l be ok. How come? Kark kark, Mar 27, 2002 #2 netman Guest Hi, Try to uncomment DNSCache and DNSChildren options in the webalizer.conf file.

jahsh12-10-2003, 07:48 AMi would check to make sure the file exists and that the permissions are set correctly. It's better to have Webalizer do this once a day - before it runs against all the domains on the Plesk server. I think there is a fix in the works, maybe try the one in rawhide. I know it is discussed in the FAQ, so I think the FAQ will help you out.

Error? what number is usually set for the DNSChildren?
