There are no errors at all in the mythbackend log, even running with "-v all". Have I missed something in the install/instructions? If this is a completely new install, then you may >> need to set up mysql so that it is accessible on the external address >> and possibly also MythTV, although Connection id 233, Current database mythconverg, user mythtv [at] localhos, SSL not in use, Connection localhost via UNIX socket, Server Characterset latin1, others utf8 Anything here look like a possible culprit? get redirected here
No: I was querying the server status as seen via an ssh login to the server, so localhost seems ok, and from that viewpoint the server was still running. This sends me back to the original country/language screen. The FE/BE system in that box still seems to be working fine. What is the purpose of the AT-ACT? Mythtv Can't Connect To Local Mysql Server Through Socket Another possibility is that you don't have permission to access the MySQL tables using the username and password you entered into mythtv-setup.

This happens when the backend is too busy to respond, or has deadlocked in due to bugs or hardware failure. http://askubuntu.com/questions/475918/mythtv-could-not-connect-to-the-database The following commands will change the mysql password to "mythtv" for user 'mythtv': # mysql -u root mysql mysql> UPDATE user SET Password=PASSWORD('mythtv') WHERE user='mythtv'; mysql> FLUSH PRIVILEGES; mysql> quit Also,
Your MariaDB connection id is 32 Server version: 5.5.33-MariaDB openSUSE package Copyright (c) 2000, 2013, Oracle, Monty Program Ab and others. Mythtv Could Not Connect To The Database Windows This is basically identical to what I'm seeing happen on port 6543 with mythfrontend's attempts. 3. When I try --verbose, I see what appears to be the same issue I have with mythweb: > Failed to load Perl API > Couldn't communicate with 192.168.1.100 on port 6543: eth0, enp4s1 etc. > Unfortunately Listen On Link Local was turned on (according to the first page of mythtv-setup/General).
You can try: Code: mysql -u mythtv -h linux-wh01 -p After "-h" comes the name or IP address you want to use to connect to the database. "-p" tells the cli https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/243504 We'll likely do > a > backport at some point too, but no ETA as to when. > > On Mon, Dec 15, 2008 at 19:22, Frank Lynch

IIUC Recent mysql installations appear to be either be behaving different or just thrashing the existing setup file (should be putting custom setting in /etc/mysql/conf.d/mythtv.cnf or similar). Do I need NFS to be active here to play, on the 'new' frontend, recordings that exist on the backend box? However, the next screen says 'MythTV cannot connect to database' and I am presented with a form (one of two), which already contains data (hostname, password...) so change nothing. After unpacking 279kB will be freed. Mythtv Cannot Connect To Master Backend Server I've now added both users, just to be sure.
